Children
The first step in arranging the baptism of a young child is that the Vicar will invite the family to attend a 9.30 family service on a Sunday, and ask them to see him at the end to pick up a form. This preliminary form will invite them to a baptism enquirers’ meeting. At that meeting baptism will be explained and a baptism visitor will be assigned to each family. The baptism visitor will arrange to make a home visit to help parents to complete the baptism application form, noting the child or chil-dren’s names, godparents’ details, etc.
This done, you can then phone the Vicar to discuss a convenient date and time (normally 12.15 on a Sunday) for the baptism to take place. Your baptism visitor will attend the baptism service if possible, and keep in touch by an annual visit to deliver a baptism anniversary card to your child for the first four years. We hope that by this time your child/children will be happily settled as part of our weekly Sunday children's activities. If you move house before the 4th anniversary of baptism please let your baptism visitor have your new address so that contact can be maintained.
Adults
Adults who become committed Christian are baptised. The Vicar will be very happy to discuss arrangements with you including the course of preparation leading to baptism and also usually confirmation. This is seen as such an important event that a bishop comes specially to conduct the service.
